FILM REVIEW: SPRING BREAKERS

Four college girls who land in jail after robbing a restaurant in order to fund their spring break vacation, find themselves bailed out by a drug and arms dealer who wants them to do some dirty work.

Don’t be fooled by the poster, Spring Breakers is a total surprise, thought-provoking, original and for a mainstream US film quite brave. I thought the performances were tip top, with excellent direction, cinematography, editing and soundtrack. The photography was Edward Hopperesque in places and super Technicolor in others. Great performances by James Franco and the four girls; clever use of editing and dialogue being repeated and placed back and forth.
